E3 Round Up; The Biggest News So Far | HypeDrop
From Battlefield to Avatar, and an official name for the upcoming Rainbow Six, here's the biggest news from E3 this weekend!
E3 is yet to disappoint! The buzz might be missing, and we've probably lost out on a few trailers here and there, but when it comes to a world pandemic, we can forgive and forget.
On day 1 and 2, we were treated to the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase, Ubisoft Forward, the Guerilla Collective and more. Questions have been answered, teasers have been watched and doors we didn't expect to open have flung off the hinges.
Let's dive in to the biggest news so far!
Battlefield 2042
DICE revealed a gameplay trailer for Battlefield 2042! The FPS is the first in the series to return to a 'modern day' setting since 2015's Hardline. Reminiscent of Battlefield 4, it looks as if we can expect plenty of gunfights, combat and chaos. Notably, the tornado and ATV/helicopter collision caught our eye!
As there's no campaign for Battlefield 2042, all resources have been poured in to the multiplayer aspect. We can't wait to see how it plays out!
Far Cry 6
Far Cry 6 trailers have been floating around the internet for a fair while now, but E3 saw Ubisoft serve up a teaser that disclosed that little bit more about the relationship between the game's main antagonist, Antón Castillo, and his son. Spoiler alert, it doesn't look healthy...
We were also teased to a trailer for Far Cry 6: Season Pass, where players take the reins of previous antagonists, including Vaas Montnegro and Pagan Ming.
Rainbow Six Extraction
A cinematic reveal trailer confirmed that the Rainbow Six Siege sequel has been re-titled Extraction! We've all heard enough of the word 'Quarantine' for a lifetime, don't you think?
Up until now, little was known about the mysterious game apart from rumours of an alien parasite-driven plot. Now, these details have officially been confirmed! Recognisable 'Siege-operators' including Nomad and Hibana are back for the co-op shooter, aiming to save the world (and their team mates) from the parasitic alien threat before it's too late.
Elden Ring
Game of Thrones but make it Dark Souls. In true George R. R. Martin style, it's been a hot minute since Elden Ring was officially revealed. But thankfully, a long-awaited trailer delved deeper into some of the locations, characters and stories.
Although we're still working out the plot details, the released gameplay ticks each of the fantasy aspects we expected; magic, monsters and mischief.
Guardians Of The Galaxy
In the new Guardians Of The Galaxy game, it's up to the player to shape the adventures of Star-Lord and the rest of the Guardians through story and dialogue choices. As leader, Starlord may have the final say on the actions of the team... but will the result always be the one we want? Probably not.
Thankfully, it's clear from the trailer that the game will embed the same humour and snappy-dialogue from the hugely-successful movies that fans have come to love.
Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora
A surprise to many, Ubisoft released a first-look at the upcoming Avatar game, titled Frontiers of Pandora. Although the game has been in the works for several years, prolonged silence from the team behind it had led to rumours it was cancelled. But all fears were firmly put to bed at E3.
The single-player game appears to stand independent of the films, and although the plot isn't clear, it will take place in the open-world of Pandora.
Watch Dogs: Legion Bloodline
After much anticipation, Ubisoft revealed a full-length trailer for Legion's Bloodline DLC! The DLC sees returning characters Aiden Pierce and Wrench form an unlikely allegiance as they head to London to steal highly prized technology... and attempt to get out alive.
It's the first time that Wrench is playable, and the most we've seen of Pierce since the original Watch Dogs.
Forza Horizon 5
After months of speculation and whirlwind rumours, Forza Horizon 5 was officially revealed during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase! Destination? Mexico.
The open-world driving game is confirmed to be the largest in the series, and will transport players to rainforests, deserts and dormant volcanoes for a race like no other. Alongside story missions and weather events, players can even take advantage of a Forza Horizon Mini-Games.
Evil Dead: The Game
80's horror fans... brace yourself. Impressive footage for the new Evil Dead game is narrated by no other than Bruce Campbell!
In the game, players step into the role of Ash and other characters from the film series as they fight to stop a demon army from taking over the world. And if playing the good guy isn't your style, players can also take control of the Kandarian Demon to take down the 'goodies' one by one.
With news still to come from Capcom, Razer and more, we can hardly contain ourselves! What game are you most excited for?
